I took this photo in my Engineering 1 class when we explored electromagnetism. As always, the best way to teach is to apply new knowledge. Building this Morse code machine allowed students to interact with both electricity and magnetism. having them build the machines got them invested and the problem solving that comes along with building them helped them connect with the meaning and importance of the lesson.
The photo on the right was part of my biology class when we learned about the circulatory system. We got a few cow hearts so that we could turn reading about ventricles to flexing the muscles directly!
